The Patrol Division is commanded by Captain Khalil El-Halabi.
The Patrol Division is divided into two shifts, each of which covers a specific block of time within the day. An additional 3rd shift also is established to assist in covering more active times of the day. Established patrol watches are responsible for emergency police and fire response and non-emergency police and fire response to calls for services which occur within the City of Woodway. These areas, or watches, are covered by patrol watches 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The Patrol Division has approximately 19 assigned officers with each watch being supervised by a sergeant. The officers on each patrol shift perform all primary police functions, including responding to citizen requests for police assistance, fire control, enforcing criminal and traffic laws, investigating motor vehicle accidents.
K - 9 Team & Other Teams
The Public Safety Department's specially trained K9-Team consists of Corporal Jacob Williams and canine Gerry. The K9-Team completes extensive training, completing weekly training as well as maintaining certification. The K9-Team has developed a reputation for dependability and reliability within the department and in assistance to outside agencies. The department also has donated the K9-Team to area schools for a proactive approach in locating drugs. In addition to local requests, the K9-Team donates their time fulfilling area public relations requests.
Sergeant Jason Graves is responsible for the arranging training, Neighborhood Watch Program, Citizens Police Academy, crime and fire prevention activities, and community tours, presentations, and special classes. He also oversees two School Resource/Community Resource officers Edward Caldera and Kelly Painter, who are assigned to Midway ISD.
