Council Person Emeritus

carleen_brightCarleen Bright, a retired educator, was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission in 1973.  In 1976, she was elected to the Woodway City Council where she served for over thirty years until September 2006; and she was elected as Mayor Pro Tem each year from 1986 to 2006.  Miss Bright also served her community in many other capacities throughout the years including  involvement with the Woodway Charter Commission and Woodway Foundation.

On October 23, 2006, through Resolution R-06-19, Miss Bright was honored by the Woodway City Council with the distinction of “Councilperson Emeritus.”  As noted in the resolution, Miss Bright “is a valuable and irreplaceable asset to the City Council.”  This honorary distinction will allow the City Council to call upon her in the future for advise on such matters as the Council deems necessary or desirable.
