Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What does the Family Center require for Coaches?

We ask that Coaches possess a basic knowledge of the sport that they are coaching. However, our rules are revised and fairly basic and staff will be available to help if necessary. All volunteers must complete, and CLEAR, a Criminal Background Check through the Woodway Family Center. (Any arrests for a Class B Misdemeanor, or above, will likely be a disqualifying factor.) As a Coach, you will be responsible for teaching skills and fundamentals of the sport to the players. You will also be responsible for contacting your team, letting them know when games/practices are and any information that the Family Center gives you.

What is the purpose of the Photo Release on the Registration Forms?

The Woodway Family Center has added a Photo Release to the Registration Forms, which must be checked “Yes” or “No”. The Photo Release tells our staff whether, or not, we are allowed to photograph your child for advertising purposes. If any photos are used, we have the option of posting photos on our Facebook Page, our Website, the Woodway Today newsletter, or other various advertising channels. We will NOT post any names with the photos.

How much is a Center Sponsorship and what's included?

The cost for a Center Sponsorship is $250.00. We will have a 3’x6′ banner made with your business logo/information on it and you have the option of having it displayed in the gym or outside on our fencing.

How much is a Team Sponsorship and what's included?

The cost for a Team Sponsorship is $200.00. Teams with a sponsor will receive 3 Pizza Coupons from Marco’s Pizza which are good for 1 Large, 1-Topping Pizza, each. The name of your business, or your name if you are sponsoring without a business, will be printed on the back of the shirts of the team that you are sponsoring. You, or your business, will also receive a “Thank You” Sponsor Plaque with a picture of the team that you have sponsored.

How are the teams formed?

All sports, except for Summer League Baseball and T-Ball, are formed through a standard draft process. For most of the sports, we have tryouts, in order for the coaches to see what level the kids are at, before they are chosen. Every child will be placed on a team no matter what. For Summer League sports, the teams will be formed by the Family Center staff.
