Flag Retirement Ceremony

Flag Retirement Ceremony

Following the tragic events of 9-11 the Elizabeth Gordon Bradley Chapter joined forces with the McLennan County Veterans Association and the City of Woodway to honor our flag, our veterans, patriots and first responders with a special ceremony that is now held each year during Veterans Appreciation Week on the Sunday following Veterans Day.  What could be more fitting than to fulfill the recommendation of the U.S. Flag Code by properly disposing of national and state flags as well as service flags representing our nation’s Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the POW/MIA flags that have become tattered, torn, faded, or worn.  This ceremony is held each year during Veterans Appreciation Week on the Sunday following Veterans Day.

Anytime you have a flag that needs to be retired bring it to the Carleen Bright Arboretum.
